WHAT WE DO
Established in 2013, Bare Bones Theatre Ensemble produces thought provoking theatre for adult audiences in the Central Pennsylvania area.
We are different from most traditional theatres, mainly because we seek out unique spaces for each of our productions.
At Bare Bones the consistent theme across the range of productions is to strip shows down and give our actors space to focus on what they do best, develop robust characters with depth and nuance to their actions.
Our priority is telling the story. We believe the most effective storytelling is done without a lot of flash. Allowing our actors to focus on character enables them to take roles in a direction that might not have occurred to them when first reading a script.
We find that the best technique to ensure character-driven performance is a dedication to a collaborative work process. We place a lot of focus on ensemble. Surrounding ourselves with the right people and empowering them to bring their own experiences to the table guarantees a successful production.
The Bare Bones vision is theatre that makes people think. We want people to leave our productions and question what they have experienced whether this be politically, socially, or personally. We strive to facilitate meaningful discussion.
At Bare Bones we foster a collaborative and nurturing environment. We are constantly looking to expand our creative team. Our theatre family is diverse and inclusive and is always looking to learn and grow from fellow artists in the community.
We seek to create original work with our company members. In addition to traditional plays and musicals Bare Bones has seen the development, from conception to complete production, of two fully immersive productions of our own creation.
